They could use some tweaks and, tbh, I'd be happy to write new ones if you like. You guys have a gem on your hands and while I am persevering despite the difficulty it sounds like a lot of people are much less eager than I am to do so and the mixed reviews really hurt to see because this game deserves some great reviews. Maybe you want tougher disciples to live out the power fantasy, or more relics, or a trickle of devil HP regen - s'all good. Third option: "Mods" that can be added to the game that do what the "easier" mode would do - but piecemeal. This will dramatically reduce the tedium and give players another shot to complete the campaign. You probably don't want to call it "easy", either.Īlternatively: checkpoints mid-story (maybe every 1/3rd) so that if players lose they can resume their game at a higher level without having to trudge all the way through the match again. Avoid drawbacks because players shouldn't be punished for enjoying your game the way they want to enjoy it. Increased Disciple starting stats, maybe some passive devil healing - stuff to give players an edge but not to take the fight out of the game. My suggestion: an easier mode that can still unlock the game. It's really the only flaw with your game right now and I think if you guys nip it in the bud quickish it will help you a lot. Especially when many of the characters are locked behind stories. That being said I've also nearly capped my levels before I beat the first story. I love those mechanics, by the way, and I don't think they should change. So, here's the rub (and my suggested solution): The difficulty may be tied to the mechanics and how foreign they are to typical roguelike gameplay.
